NextImg:Young Aussie goes viral for asking simple question – but the response is the problem

Aussie Gen Zer Lexie is going viral because she was unable to identify what kind of power tool she was holding, and the comment section has turned into a sexist wasteland.

In a TikTok that has now amassed more than three million views, Melbourne local Lexie explains that she’s confused because she thought the object she was holding was a drill, but after trying to use it, she realized it was something else entirely.

“Do you know what this is? Because I thought this was a god damn drill,” she explains to her followers.

Lexie goes on to ask for help from anyone who has any answers because she’s frustrated she can’t use it to build her shelves.

‘It just doesn’t work,” she vents.

Instead of her genuine question just being answered, the young Aussie is hit with a barrage of sexist comments on her TikTok.

“Please, someone get this girl a man. I’d hate to see what she does behind the wheel,” one man wrote.

That gross comment wasn’t just ignored. It got more than 50,000 likes and it wasn’t the only sexist thing written under the viral TikTok.

Sure, it is one thing for one person to comment something sexist but the fact it secured thousands of likes is the scary part.

One man joked that watching her be confused made him want to cry, another man inferred that this was an example that she couldn’t be a strong, independent woman, and another reasoned this was proof that she needed a man.

“Good luck, sweetheart,” one man simply wrote.

If that wasn’t depressing enough, there was also a comment where a man volunteered to be her teacher and boyfriend.

“Please, someone get this girl a man. I’d hate to see what she does behind the wheel,” one man wrote.

There were thankfully also people offering sound and genuine advice and trying to figure out what power tool she was holding.

“It’s an electric hammer it looks very similar to a drill,” one explained.

“It’s a drill or hammer drill, and you can change the bit on the end to suit what you need it for,” another clarified.
