The Young and the Restless alum Brett Hadley has died at age 92.
His friend Mary Ann Halpin paid a tribute to the late actor in a Facebook post shared on Thursday (June 15), which confirmed his passing.
“It is with a heavy heart that I have to say goodbye to my sweet friend Brett Hadley. He has been my friend since I was 19 years old,” Halpin wrote. “I will miss his playful and deep conversation, his funny flirty giggle and twinkling eyes. He took his last bow and gracefully left us yesterday.”
His cause of death has not yet been revealed.
The actor is best known for his role on Young and the Restless as Detective Carl Williams, whom he played from 1980 to 1991 before reprising the role one last time from 1998 to 1999. In his return, his character suffered from amnesia after having been badly beaten and took on a new identity as Jim Bradley.
Hadley was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on September 25, 1930. He got his start acting at the University of New Mexico, where he studied drama, according to Deadline.
Hadley was remembered by a number of his former Young and the Restless costars on social media, who praised him for his “happy presence” and sense of humor.
Tracey E. Bregman, who has played Lauren Fenmore Baldwin on the soap since 1983, said he would be “very missed.” Per Soap Opera Digest, the actress said, “Brett had the best sense of humor ever and he and Doug [Davidson] were a lethal pair to attempt to do a scene with. He was a wonderful actor and a great part of YOUNG AND RESTLESS in those years.”
Kate Linder, who plays Esther Valentine, said, “Brett was an amazing actor. He definitely owned that role. I can still hear his voice. There will never be another Carl Williams. My heart goes out to his family and friends.”
He also appeared in Next of Kin, The Mad Bomber, Marcus Welby M.D., and The Incredible Hulk.
His last acting credit was in 2015 when he starred in the short film Dreamcatchers.
