Strike one, and they’re out! For the first time in its 256-year history, Rutgers University had to cancel classes when more than 9,000 staff members went on strike. Some 67,000 students were affected, but if it wasn’t for the cafeteria closing, the Scarlet Knights “student-athletes” would have never known the difference.
Gerrit Cole knows a thing or two about strikes. Cole (2-0, 0.73 ERA) has fanned 19 while allowing just one run in 12 ¹/₃ innings. The Yankees are in Cleveland, where Hunter Gaddis (0-0, 3.72) will start for the Guardians. Gaddis was sauteed in Seattle but rebounded to one-hit the A’s over six strong. Cole has been known to mix a clunker in to keep us (the bettors) honest. We are hoping this is one of them. $50 on Cleveland.

A winnable game, but not to be. Hanser Alberto hit a three-run homer off Kenta Maeda, and the White Sox held off the Twins, 4-3. Loss has us at +81 hrbeks.
