NextImg:Yankees’ Trent Grisham belts three-run homer in spring opener

Noteworthy items during the Yankees’ Grapefruit League opener on Saturday in Lakeland, Fla.:

Trent Grisham smoked a three-run home run off minor league lefty Jake Higginbotham that traveled an estimated 421 feet.

The left-handed hitting Grisham projects as the Yankees’ fourth outfielder but Aaron Boone said he expects him to play “a lot.”

So much for pace of game.

The Yankees’ Grapefruit League opener, a 22-10 win over the Tigers, lasted 3:47 and included 23 walks and nine hit by pitches (Tigers pitchers were responsible for 14 walks and five hit batters).

Jorbit Vivas is known for his bat-to-ball skills, but the 5-foot-10 infielder has some power, too.

The prospect acquired from the Dodgers over the offseason flashed it with a 404-foot home run to right field.

Vivas is expected to start the season at Triple-A, but could find his way to The Bronx at some point this season if needed.

The Yankees will pull split-squad duty, with Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo and Carlos Rodon among the starters at Steinbrenner Field against the Blue Jays.

Marcus Stroman (throwing to Austin Wells) will make his spring debut against the Phillies in Clearwater.
