Oscar Gonzalez, an outfielder who was claimed from the Guardians, threw out two runners at home in the first three innings.

A pair of strikes — the first in the second inning, when Mark Canha tested his arm, the next an inning later, when Spencer Torkelson tried to tag up from third — saved two runs.

Trent Grisham smacked a stand-up triple into right field, but then was picked off third base by Tigers catcher Carson Kelly.

Oswaldo Cabrera, who will pick and choose which side of the plate he swings from against lefties, tried hitting lefty against southpaw Andrew Chafin.

Cabrera struck out looking on the sixth pitch of the at-bat.
