NextImg:Yankees, Mets among teams teetering on trade deadline’s bubble

With the Angels a clear buyer, six teams remain on the buy/sell bubble.

1. Cubs: Teams are still expecting them to sell despite their recent hot streak, and they have two great trade pieces — Marcus Stroman and Cody Bellinger.

2. Yankees: Though officially in limbo, they hope and believe they will become buyers. A left fielder, bullpen piece and perhaps a catcher would help.

  1. Mets: Rivals think they’re behaving like a seller, but David Robertson might be the only well-priced veteran. Tommy Pham and Mark Canha are at least tradeable, and if they pay down Hall of Fame-bound Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer would be of interest.

Brian Cashman and the Yankees could use some upgrades at the trade deadline, but they could also sell.

    4. Guardians: The slick operation could do the buy/sell thing.

    5. Red Sox: They’ve sold Kiké Hernandez but may also do a little of each. Pitching would help.

    6. Padres: So unlucky (5-17 in one-run games), they are at least considering a sale.
