The Yankees have placed Harrison Bader on irrevocable waivers, meaning any team can claim him and have him on their roster before Sept. 1 and eligible for the playoffs, The Post has learned.
The Mets have done the same with Carlos Carrasco.
Any club can claim either player.
If neither is claimed, they would just continue to be on their current roster.
This appears like an attempt to save some money by the New York teams.
Bader is making $10.4 million in his walk year, so he is still owed about $2 million.
Carrasco, who is making $14 million this season, has roughly $2.6 million left.
He also is a free agent after the season.
Teams are making players available on the 48-hour irrevocable waivers period now because it gives a claiming team time to have that player on the roster before Sept. 1, the cut-off for playoff eligibility.
These are strictly waiver claims.

Teams cannot trade players on the 40-man roster after the trade deadline, which was Aug. 2.
The Angels put Lucas Giolito, Randal Grichuk, Reynaldo Lopez, Matt Moore and Hunter Renfroe on irrevocable waivers, as well.
