NextImg:Yankees bring back Greg Allen for outfield depth

The Yankees are bringing back a familiar face, once again.

Greg Allen is signing a minor league deal with the Yankees, The Post’s Jon Heyman and Joel Sherman reported, which includes an invite to big league spring training and will pay him $1.1 million if he plays in the majors.

The speedy outfielder also has upward mobility clauses on May 15 and June 15, meaning that if another team is willing to put him in the majors on those dates, the Yankees either have to call him up or trade him to that team.

Allen had an upward mobility clause with the Red Sox last season, which is how the Yankees acquired him on May 20 as he took the roster spot of a designated-for-assignment Aaron Hicks.

Allen’s contract also includes bonuses based on how many plate appearances he receives with the Yankees.

The 30-year-old switch hitter played in 22 games for the Yankees last season and 15 more in 2021, when he provided a spark as the team was dealing with a COVID-19 outbreak.

Allen has played all three outfield spots with the Yankees, giving them more depth at the position.

They are set to go into spring training with a starting outfield of Juan Soto, Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo with Trent Grisham, utilityman Oswaldo Cabrera and rookie Everson Pereira also on the 40-man roster.

Jasson Dominguez is also expected to be an option for them by the summer after he finishes his rehab from Tommy John surgery.
