Noteworthy items during the Yankees’ Grapefruit League action Saturday:
Anthony Volpe chipped in a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot — a line drive the other way and a chopper up the middle — continuing to look like his offseason adjustment of flattening his bat path is paying off.
Cody Morris has an outside shot to make the bullpen, but he didn’t help his case Saturday against the Orioles. The swingman gave up five runs on three hits and two walks over an inning-plus.
Center fielder Trent Grisham made a strong diving catch on a fly ball to right-center by Cedric Mullins.
Grisham’s premium defense at the position should make him a frequent late-inning defensive replacement.
Nestor Cortes will make his second start of the spring when the Yankees host the Tigers at 1:05 p.m. at Steinbrenner Field.
