Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whose supporters lovingly refer to her as “Big Gretch,” paid a visit to the Bravo Clubhouse for Tuesday night’s (Sept. 24) episode of Watch What Happens Live, where she dished on her days as a party girl.

The Democratic politician, who’s been serving as the governor of Michigan since 2019, confirmed her wild past to host Andy Cohen while promoting her new book True Gretch: What I’ve Learned About Life, Leadership, and Everything in Between.

“I was your most fun friend from high school, who you wondered if they’d ever amount to anything,” she said, to which a shocked Cohen replied, “Is that right? Wow. She did, everybody!”

In fact, some still mistake her for her former self when they see videos of her Bravo doppelgänger Luann de Lesseps out on the town.

“All of a sudden, every once in a while, a video of her dancing in a bar is attributed to me,” Whitmer playfully said, referring to the Real Housewives of New York City alum.

Those who don’t live in Michigan and/or maybe aren’t as tuned into politics might recognize Whitmer from the viral video in which she says, “It’s Shark Week, motherfuckers,” right before delivering a major speech.

Whitmer revealed that she has since been approached by the Discovery Channel, who sent her a “big Shark Week gift box” ahead of this year’s programming.

Still, she told Cohen she was “shocked” by how big her hot mic moment became.

“I had no idea that it was even captured much less get out publicly until the next morning and I was shocked but we embrace it,” she admitted, before adding, “The Etsy community started sending me ‘Shark Week MF’ stuff.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
