NextImg:Wondering What Happened To Sarah Cooper? Sarah Cooper Breaks Her Silence About Life After Going Viral

Comedian Sarah Cooper addressed her followers in a TikTok shared on Friday (Aug. 4), titled “Where have you been??”

Cooper gave an update on the last few years of her career since she blew up in 2020 for lip syncing videos of Donald Trump’s statements. “So 2020 happened, we all kind of know what happened, I totally blew up with these lip syncs of the then-and-never-again president, it totally changed my life,” she recalled. “I made a ton of money which is great.”

She explained that, over the next few years, she tried her hand at screenwriting and acting, but failed to find a calling that truly felt right. And during this time of self-discovery — she got divorced along the way, too — she decided that she won’t be doing any more lip sync videos.

“I’m not gonna do anymore lip-syncs, please watch the old ones,” she announced. “But I really want to move forward. And I think that’s what I’m going to do.”

In a second video posted a couple of hours later, Cooper admitted that she no longer thought of Trump as “powerful,” but rather “boring and weak.”

“I’m very good at lip-syncing and I’m not gonna stop doing that, I just think that it needs to evolve… Also, I want people to know my voice,” she said.

The writer and comedian became an overnight internet sensation in 2020 thanks to her spot-on impersonation of the then-president. Her comedy abilities landed her multiple talk show appearances and even the opportunity to guest host Jimmy Kimmel Live. But, it looks like she is ready to step into a new era of her career that is far more removed from her satirical beginnings.

In a third video also shared on Aug. 4, Cooper added that part of her reasoning for stopping the lip-sync videos was the response she was getting from her audience. She said she often got comments from both Trump supporters and haters, who would both comment that they loved her videos.

“I don’t want to be helping him in any way. I mean somebody else commented the other day that I make him seem compassionate. I’m sorry, why am I giving my compassion to this asshole?” she said.

She might be leaving the lip-syncing videos behind, but she does have a memoir titled Foolish coming out on October 3.

She didn’t announce any additional upcoming projects for now. But fans can still tune into her Netflix series, Sarah Cooper: Everything’s Fine, which premiered in 2020 and was produced by Maya Rudolph, and directed by Natasha Lyonne.
