The Long Island woman accused of killing NYPD cop Anastasios Tsakos in a drunken hit-and-run took 19 swigs of booze and smoked weed just hours before the crash, according to a video shown to jurors at her manslaughter trial Wednesday.
Jessica Beauvais, 32, took several hits from a pipe and repeatedly downed shots or took sips of a cocktail over a 90-minute span while recording her live podcast – and then allegedly got behind the wheel and mowed down the veteran cop on the Long Island Expressway in April 2021, prosecutors said.
“I still do that s–t! I smoked it every day of my life,” Beauvais said during a seven-minute clip shown to the Queens Supreme Court jury.
“Everybody knows I smoke weed. It’s very simple, you not supposed to be here if you don’t know weed is my thing.”
On several occasions on the time-stamped footage Beauvais either does a shot or takes a sip from what prosecutors have described as “a strong mixed drink.”
At around 2 a.m. the following morning, Tsakos was directing traffic at the scene of an earlier accident on the expressway when prosecutors said Beauvais smashed into the cop with her 2013 Volkswagen and drove off.
The force of the impact was so severe that Tsakos was thrown high into the air, his face battered and his leg torn clean from his body, according to earlier testimony at the trial.
On Wednesday, NYPD Sgt. Robert Denig told jurors that Beauvais’ car had been clocked at over 81 mph on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and the LIE — although she slowed down to about 56 mph as she approached the cops investigating the earlier accident on the roadway.
Police said Beauvais had a blood-alcohol level of .15, nearly twice the legal limit when she was later arrested.
Irene Tsakos, the slain cop’s widow, broke down in court last week as witnesses described her husband’s horrific injuries — and had to leave the courtroom when graphic photos of the scene of his April 27, 2021 death were displayed.
She showed little reaction Wednesday when prosecutors played Beauvais’ 2021 podcast.
Officials said the accused killer also went on an anti-cop rant during the podcast, although that portion of the recording was not shown to the jury.
The footage was initially posted on Facebook but has since been removed.
Beauvais is charged with vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, driving while intoxicated and reckless endangerment.
She faces up to 20 years in prison, if she is convicted.
Beauvais also gave a tearful apology as she was led out of the 107th Precinct stationhouse in handcuffs after her arrest.
During opening statements last week her lawyer, Jorge Santos, maintained that Tsakos wasn’t wearing a reflective safety vest and was “text message on this phone looking down” when he was struck.
“I will remind you, you promised to give Ms. Beauvais a fair trial,” Santos told the jury. “I’m going to ask you to keep an open mind.”
