Willie Geist received the honor of a lifetime while guest hosting Today With Jenna & Friends Tuesday (Mar. 4).

After Heather McMahan declared him her “work crush” while guest hosting Jenna & Friends last week, word began to spread on the internet about Geist.

“You really lit the internet on fire last week,” Jenna Bush Hager told Geist during Tuesday’s broadcast. “You may not know this but Pedro Pascal is known as the internet’s boyfriend.”

She continued, “He’s cool, he’s handsome, everybody knows him… Well, well our team has now pegged you morning TV’s boyfriend.”

“Oh no,” Geist responded. “Ugh, makes me very uncomfortable.”

Bush Hager said the Geist phenomenon began last week when she noticed McMahan, who she described to be “one of the wildest, most outgoing humans” she knows, becoming shy around Geist.

“She was quiet,” Geist acknowledged. He later admitted that he jokingly asked McMahan if they were “an item.”

“But, how do you feel that you are taking over this position?” Bush Hager asked her guest host.

“I don’t even quite know what it means to be morning TV’s boyfriend,” Geist admitted. “I am on morning TV a lot, very early in the morning, later in the morning this case, Sundays. I’m on six to noon most days, so I guess I do occupy the morning. I guess it’s an honor to be in the company of Pedro Pascal.”

Bush Hager then joked that she wished they could give him a sash or an award for the honor. “Or some sort of hat, but your head is too large and we really couldn’t fit anything to it,” she joked.

Geist is filling in as guest host on Today With Jenna & Friends before actress Regina Hall takes over for the remainder of the week as Bush Hager’s new co-host.
