As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. Based on Rebecca Godfrey’s best-selling book, the Hulu drama Under the Bridge is a harrowing exploration of the real-life murder of Canadian teen Reena Virk.
The series, while heartbreaking, was beautifully constructed and addressed the many layers of Reena’s story.
But will there be more? That’s the question everybody wants answered.
Created by Quinn Shephard and Samir Mehta, the show stars Riley Keough as a fictionalized version of Godfrey and Lily Gladstone as police officer Cam Bentland.
Throughout the series, the two navigate their personal conflicts while investigating the cause of Reena’s death.
In the finale, multiple teenagers are convicted for their involvement in the tragic killing, including lead culprits Kelly Ellard (Izzy G) and Warren Glowatski (Javon Walton).
Wondering if there will be an Under the Bridge Season 2? Here’s everything you need to know.
I know what you’re thinking: How can there be another season, dummy? The case has been solved. But remember the Netflix drama Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story? The show was advertised as a limited series, and then Netflix announced that they renewed it for two more seasons as an anthological series. Why would Under the Bridge be treated any differently?
While an understated series, Under the Bridge premiered to high critical and audience acclaim. The show currently has an 81% approval rate on Rotten Tomatoes. Decider’s Joel Keller praised the show in his review, writing, “Under The Bridge has more than enough complications to make for compelling drama, and the first episode gives viewers just enough information about the case to hook them in without getting them frustrated.”

As of now, the series has not been renewed for another season. However, it’s still fresh so there’s still plenty of time for them to make an announcement.
That said, ahead of the release of the series, Decider asked Mehta and Shephard if they’d consider making another season of the show. “A recurring theme of the show, which you’ve probably heard many people say, is that stories don’t end,” said Mehta. “When it comes to this particular one, it is going to end for us. I’m not sure what the framework for an anthology would be. If anything, there’s certainly room for Lily’s character to go on to tackle a new case, but that’d probably be the extent of expanding this universe.”
Shephard added, “We all got very attached. I think that’s the saddest part of it all coming to an end. It’s one of the kindest casts I’ve ever worked with, and also one of the most talented.”
Womp womp! So, the signs are pointing to no for a second season but the door isn’t fully closed. I’d buy into the Lily Gladstone Universe — and I’m sure Hulu has similar thoughts!
Under the Bridge is streaming on Hulu.
