BritBox’s new Mitford family drama Outrageous ends its first season with a tantalizing tease of what’s yet to come. As the seven Mitford siblings — Nancy (Bessie Carter), Pamela (Isobel Jesper Jones), Tom (Toby Regbo), Diana (Joanna Vanderham), Unity (Shannon Watson), Jessica (Zoe Brough), and Deborah (Orla Hill) — gather one last time to bid farewell to their ancestral home, the family poses for a tense photograph. Nancy has just confronted Diana about her anti-semitic, fascist politics, while Nazi-loving Unity and fervent Communist Jessica have essentially bid farewell to each other as the geopolitical conflicts leading to World War II heat up. However, Nancy hints that the craziest moments for these seven siblings is yet to come.

There are six episodes in the first season of Outrageous. All six are now streaming on BritBox.

As of right now, we don’t yet know if BritBox will make a second season of Outrageous, but we do know that the cast is keen to keep the scandalous story going.

“I think there’s so much more,” Outrageous star Bessie Carter told DECIDER. “I mean, when you read Mary Lovell’s book [about the Mitfords], you’re like, ‘What the hell?’ There is so much more.”

“Yeah, I think we would all love to do more seasons,” Joanna Vanderham said. “I believe they have enough content for four seasons. So they’ve got the lead up to the Second World War and then throughout the Second World War.”

“And it just gets even more chaotic,” Zoe Brough said.

“My character, Diana ends up in prison. I really want to do that,” Vanderham said. “I was like, ‘Please, can we get to that season where she’s just completely taken down off the pedestal?’ That’s got to happen!”

“Debo becomes a woman and then she has so many tragic things happening to her and her life,” Shannon Watson said. “Yeah, there’s just so much more to come.”

“And Decca goes to Spain!” Carter said. “You know, there’s so much. So hopefully none of that is spoilers because it’s all like in the internet. So if it is, I’m sorry.”

Whether or not there is an Outrageous Season 2 is down to BritBox Head of Programming Jon Farrar. “We want to look at how the audience responds,” he told DECIDER. “Viewing data is gonna be a massive part of that, but it’s not everything. We want to take a holistic view of how the show is received in the market.”

“Certainly we would love to get that second series done if it is well-received.”
