If you’re in the mood for a fun action throwback, prepare to get… Obliterated.
Created by Cobra Kai’s Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, the R-rated series follows an elite special forces team who thwarts a deadly attack in Las Vegas. To celebrate, the gang gets hammered, only to learn that the bomb they deactivated was a fake.
Cue Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day.”
The team has seven hours to find the real bomb and save the world… all while intoxicated (and/or slightly hungover). Headlined by Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig, the entertaining eight-episode series has delivered a slew of memorable moments (Kimi Rutledge’s homage to Ali Larter’s iconic whipped cream bikini scene from Varsity Blues comes to mind).
If you already devoured the first season, you’re probably curious about a potential second installment. Will Netflix’s Obliterated be back for Season 2? Here’s everything we know.
Netflix’s entertaining action comedy is headlined by Nick Zano (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow) and Shelley Hennig (Teen Wolf) and features a talented ensemble that includes Kimi Rutledge, Terrence Terrell, Alyson Gorske, C. Thomas Howell, Eugene Kim, and Paola Lázaro.
David Costabile, Carl Lumby, Costa Ronin, and Lindsey Kraft also appear in a guest starring capacity.
Nope. But that’s completely normal. The series debuted on November 30, so there’s still plenty of time for Netflix to make a decision on the show’s future.
Honestly? It could go either way. The series was met with mixed reviews from critics, earning a 50% Tomatometer score. Audiences were a bit more favorable, with the show boasting a 77% Audience Score and 6.6/10 on IMDb.
It helps that the series has been a fixture in Netflix’s Top 10 since its debut and that the showrunners, Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, are enthusiastic about the possibility of a second season.
“If there’s a demand for it, we’re certainly going to be looking for that next party city where our team could get into mischief and have another adventure,” Hurwitz said during an interview with Inverse.
What’s On Netflix recently wrote about the show’s performance and said they were “cautiously optimistic” about a second season. That’s basically where we landed, too. Based on the show’s increasing popularity, Netflix’s relationship with Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald, the success of Cobra Kai, and the aforementioned trio’s desire to continue the story, we think there’s a good chance (60-65%) that Obliterated will be back for Season 2.
