The French children’s animated series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir has captured the hearts of viewers all over the world. Parisian teens Marinette and Adrien, the two main characters, are best friends whose superhero alter egos are Ladybug and Cat Noir, respectively. Together, the two battle the city’s supervillains, one of which is Adrien’s own father Gabriel, who transforms into the evil Hawk Moth.

The show, which in its original French format is titled Miraculous, les aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir, was first released in South Korea in September 2015, and eventually in France about a month later. It first came to the U.S. that December on Nickelodeon, but after being removed from the network in 2016, Disney Channel picked it up three years later in 2019. While six more episodes of the show’s fifth season dropped on Disney+ today (July 19), fans are eager to know the answer to the following question: will there be a Season 6 of Miraculous Ladybug? Read on to find out!

Yes! In fact, according to ComicBook.com, the series was approved for a sixth AND a seventh season! A fan reposted snapshots from director Jeremy Zag’s Instagram story back in 2024 on Twitter that revealed the show’s team working on their next season.

Also, a film adaptation of the series, Miraculous: Ladybug and Cat Noir, The Movie was just released in theaters in France, and is set to be released on Netflix on July 28. You can watch the trailer in the tweet embedded below.

Fans might have to wait a little while for the sixth season to hit streaming services, as the rest of the fifth season has yet to be released on U.S-based platforms. The tweet mentioned above predicts that the next season will be released between 2024 and 2025.

While Prime Video has the first two seasons of the series and Netflix offers its first three seasons, Disney+ is the most up-to-date on the show’s releases, and has been releasing episodes from the fifth season in batches of five or six episodes at a time. Nonetheless, Disney+ has only released 20 of the season’s 27 total episodes as of today (July 19), so fans have seven more completed episodes to look forward to.
