The new Alice in Borderland Season 3 has launched the hit Japanese series into Netflix’s Top 10 in the U.S. list. But will there be a fourth season?
Alice in Borderland centers on Arisu (Kento Yamazaki) and Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya), who upon their return from the Borderland to the real world after Season 2, are now married and “lead a happy life, though their memories of the Borderland surface only in dreams and hallucinations,” per Netflix’s synopsis of the new season.
“One day, Usagi suddenly vanishes. Guided by Ryuji (Kento Kaku), a man who studies the afterlife, she sets out for the Borderland,” the synopsis continues. “A devastated Arisu is visited by Banda (Hayato Isamura), now a Borderland resident, who informs him of Usagi’s whereabouts. Arisu must now follow her back into inevitable danger to find her.”
But “Arisu faces a barrage of fire arrows and electric currents powerful enough to fry victims alive” when he returns.
“Will he find Usagi and return to their world? What awaits them and the other players — hope or despair? With only the Joker card remaining, the game it holds for Arisu and the others remains a mystery. The Borderland returns on an even grander scale, with stunning visuals that will captivate viewers,” the synopsis concludes.

If that description wasn’t enough to make you head to Netflix and watch Alice in Borderland, Johnny Loftus highly recommended the thriller’s latest installment in DECIDER’s Alice in Borderland Season 3 review, writing, “We’re so ready to dive back into the game! Season 3 of Alice in Borderland brings back the escapism, mystery, heightened suspense, unsettling violence, chemistry-building victories, and characters who must discover their fortitude while fighting for their lives.”

According to ScreenRant, Arisu, the name of the protagonist in Alice in Borderland, is the phonetic version of the name Alice in Japanese. Also, as a fan pointed out in the Alice in Borderland Reddit forum, Arisu’s game tag is Alice when he is “playing his video games before they get to the Borderlands.”
As of now, Alice in Borderland Season 4 has yet to be confirmed. That said, Season 3 only began streaming on Sept. 25, meaning that there still is time for a renewal announcement.
Series director Shinsuke Sato expressed his interest in returning for another season in an interview with RadioTimes.com.
“f you’re asking me whether I’d be interested or not, I would certainly say yes,”he said.
