The Paper is officially OUT, and when fans of The Office, comedy lovers, and mockumentary aficionados everywhere devour all 10 episodes of Season 1 on Peacock, they’re be craving more of Greg Daniels and Michael Koman’s new series.
The Paper allows fans of The Office to check in with the same documentary crew that made Dunder Mifflin’s employees stars. Only now, they’re filming the day-to-day lives of the staffers at The Truth Teller, a struggling local newspaper in Toledo, Ohio.
As Decider noted in our full review of The Paper, Daniels’ new comedy — which stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sabrina Impacciatore, Oscar Nuñez, and more — was created with the same special sauce that had The Office fans loyally flocking to their TVs week after week. But will The Paper continue beyond its debut season?
Will there be a Season 2 of The Paper? Has Peacock renewed or canceled The Paper yet? And if the series does return, when will The Paper Season 2 premiere, and what can we expect from the series moving forward? Decider’s got answers!
Here’s everything we know about The Paper Season 2, including comments from stars Domhnall Gleeson, Chelsea Frei, Ramona Young, and Melvin Gregg, and more on which characters from The Office they’d like to see appear.
The Paper Season 1 consists of 10 episodes, all of which Peacock made available stream on Thursday, September 4.
You bet! Ahead of The Paper‘s review embargo the day before Season 1 premieres, Peacock announced that the highly-anticipated comedy already snagged an early Season 2 renewal.
“Daniels already is said to have ideas for a second season,” Deadline reported. “It is likely his Season 2 plans and the NBCUniversal brass being happy with the competed episodes that paved the way to the renewal.”
Since Season 1 just premiered and the Season 2 renewal was just announced, there’s currently no official premiere date planned for The Paper Season 2. But here’s hoping a new season won’t take more than a year to write and film, and we can reunite with our favorite Toldeo paper people at some point in 2026. While we wait for more updates on The Paper Season 2, here’s what the sophomore season could look like and which Office characters stars would like to welcome to the show.

The Paper Season 2 would continue to chronicle the day-to-day happenings at The Truth Teller, while showing our favorite new reporters tracking down fresh stories, finding themselves in more hilarious situations, and pursuing more award-winning journalism. Aside from chronicling professional developments, The Paper Season 2 would also continue to follow and explore personal and romantic relationships between characters. In the finale, Ned and Mare shared a kiss that left them both giddy and anxious about the future, so Season 2 would have to address their dynamic. Meanwhile, Season 1’s finale put distance between Nicole and Detrick, who clearly have more to unpack about their feelings for each other! So we can’t wait to see what Season 2 has in store, including more potential Office character appearances…
The Paper Season 1 gave us a slew of Office Easter eggs, as well as eyes on Oscar Martinez and Bob Vance, so there’s always a chance we could see more familiar faces from the show’s predecessor in Season 2. While any and eventually everyone could return in some capacity, here are some top Office cameo picks from The Paper‘s stars.
“I mean, my favorite character — I like Jan from The Office,” Frei told Decider over Zoom ahead of Season 1’s premiere. “I don’t know what she would ever be doing in Toledo, Ohio, or what she’s up to these days, but I’m just such a fan. So some Serenity by Jan candles would be so great to have.”
“I’ll go with the same,” Gleeson added. “She’s “[Jan’s] incredible.”
“I’ll say either Dwight or Jim,” Young said. And Gregg added, “I want to see Toby, just because [Paul Lieberstein] directed and written on this season, so to see him come out from behind the camera and bring Toby back out of HR, which, I feel like we need him. Because there’s a lot of HR situations in this season, so I think that’ll be fun.”
The Paper and The Office are both available to stream on Peacock.
