House of David goes way back. The historical drama delves into the story of King David through the Old Testament, and it’s gripped plenty of viewers since its late February premiere on Prime Video.
Michael Iskander stars as David, who memorably killed Goliath (Martyn Ford) with just a slingshot, a key moment that’s depicted in the first season of show. House of David also travels back in time to show viewers what built up to the iconic duel, and features a cast of biblical figures, including King Saul (Ali Suliman), Samuel (Stephen Lang), Jonathan (Ethan Kai), King Agag (Jeremy Xido) and Queen Ahinoam (Ayelet Zurer), among others.
DECIDER’s Joel Keller noted in his House of David review that the series is similar to the smash hit The Chosen, writing, “House Of David tries to take a page out of The Chosen‘s playbook by making familiar biblical characters into real human characters.”
Keller writes, “The series will give viewers a chance to see just how Saul went mad, how that affected his rule and his family, and how David managed to get to a point where he would be able to lodge a stone into the head of the massive Goliath.”
That storied tale certainly paid off in viewership, with 22 million viewers tuning into the show in just 17 days on Prime Video. Of course, that begs the question, are more episodes to come?
Is House of David returning for Season 2? When would the second season premiere? We have answers. Here’s everything we know.
Good news, House of David fans: the show is indeed coming back for Season 2. Prime Video announced House of David had been renewed for a second season three weeks after it first premiered on the platform Feb. 27.
In a press released shared with DECIDER, Prime Video shared that Wonder Project’s Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn will be returning as directors, writers, and executive producers for Season 2, while Iskander will reprise his role as David.
Prime Video also teased what’s to come in the next season: “Season 2 will follow the aftermath of the battle between David and Goliath and David’s rise to the throne. As he navigates palace politics, his family’s jealousy, and a growing romance, David steps deeper into his destiny and learns what it means to become a great leader.”

While Prime Video has confirmed that House of David is coming back for Season 2, they have not shared a Season 2 premiere date. The show began filming Season 1 just last year, with Variety reporting in June 2024 that production was underway in Greece at the time. Based on that timeline, if fans are lucky, they could get more episodes later this year or in early 2026.
Once we get an update on House of David Season 2’s official premiere date, we’ll be sure to update this piece. Until then, stay tuned!
