Castlevania is back with a powerful new installment set during the French Revolution. Though the series had high expectations to meet, Castlevania: Nocturne goes the extra mile in terms of design, storytelling and action.
Castlevania: Nocturne takes place in 1972 at the height of the French Revolution. As the aristocracy forges a dangerous alliance with the Vampire Messiah to crush the revolution, vampire hunter Richter Belmont is chosen to help lead the resistance. With the help of Caribbean sorceress Annette and her ally Eduoard, the revolutionaries set out to end the vampire rule and institute change in France after years of colonialism.
“Castlevania: Nocturne is an exemplary way to take a popular game series and turn it into one of the most exciting animated adaptations yet,” Decider’s Brittany Vincent wrote in their review of the series.
