The misfits in the military trope has been gracing our TV screens for decades at this point. And clearly it’s still popping off. Boots, Netflix’s latest dramedy TV series, has had a good ride so far, with a pretty close-to-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%.

Netflix’s official synopsis reads “Set in the tough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps—when being gay in the military was still illegal—the series follows directionless, closeted Cameron Cope (Miles Heizer) and his best friend Ray McAffey (Liam Oh), the son of a decorated Marine, as they join a diverse group of recruits.”

But if you’re here, you’re probably already familiar with the military series’ plot and happened to enjoy it so much that you’re just on edge to find out if, and when, more episodes will be released. Standby because we’ve got you covered.

Currently, a second season of Boots hasn’t gotten the official green light. However, the actor playing the main protagonist, Cameron, is open to doing more seasons—which gives us some peace of mind.

“I would do literally anything for Season 2,” Miles Heizer said. “So, yeah, I’m hoping. I’m glad it ends on a little bit of a cliffhanger.”

“Simultaneously, it’s a very powerful ending to see this beautiful camaraderie and then this harsh reality of what they actually signed up for hits them,” Heizer said. “I think that would be very interesting to explore in Season 2, especially for Cameron, who really was just running away from his family and wanted to be with his best friend. Suddenly realizing this is a very serious decision.”

Max Parker said, “There’s so many great characters in the show that it really is an ensemble show and you don’t necessarily get to see all of the characters [in Season 1]. I think we’ve just scratched the surface of so many of them. So I think it it needs a Season 2.”

The coming-of-age series is inspired by the book The Pink Marine by Greg Cope White, and let’s just hope that book isn’t closed just yet. Fingers crossed. After all, the show ends with an announcement from President Bush saying that the U.S. is going to war with Iraq just after the boys finally finished their days in anguish at USMC’s boot camp. We have so many questions.

All eight episodes are available to stream on Netflix and on Netflix only. Because this is a series from Netflix, we can assume that a sequel season would also premiere on the same streaming platform.

Netflix offers three subscription plans to fit your streaming needs. The plans start at $7.99/month for standard with ads and go up to $24.99/month for unlimited ad-free streaming in up to 4K UHD quality.
