The feared, anticipated and iconic Movie Night is a fixture in Love Island USA’s production strategy, invigorating watchers with its ability to generate explosive drama among the Islanders.
The tradition began on season 7 of Love Island (U.K.) in 2021, then rolled out in the U.S. version in season 5, which aired in 2023.
The clock is ticking. Peacock has not confirmed whether a movie night will take place this season, but if it’s in the plans, it’ll happen any day now. In past seasons, movie night occurred only a few days after the conclusion of Casa Amor. So, if it doesn’t play out tonight or tomorrow night, we should probably abandon our pot-stirring aspirations. Producers most likely won’t want it so close to the finale, which comes out this Sunday, July 13. This is because, to be frank, somebody has to win. If all the couples are still torn apart by the finale, there’ll be none left to take home that $100,000 prize.

Another mechanism to test relationships on the show, Movie Night reveals the Islanders’ behaviors behind closed doors, showing a compilation of damning clips to the group. Secrets are exposed, hookups are uncovered and lies come into the light — making for rude awakenings, outbursts and breakups galore, but most importantly, excellent TV. Last season, the boys’ messy actions during Casa Amor were outed, leading to ugly arguments between day one couples Kaylor Martin and Aaron Evans and Serena Page and Kordell Beckham.
Cue the #Nicolandria army: The biggest plot twist that will most likely come to light in the villa on this season’s Movie Night is everything that’s gone down between contestants Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen. However, Nic’s couple Cierra Ortega left the villa during last Sunday’s episode, so far less drama will be generated from the clips in her absence. Still, from Nic calling Olandria “one of the most beautiful women (he’s) ever seen in (his) lifetime” to their passionate makeout in Soul Ties, the other Islanders are probably not aware of the romantic connection they’ve thus begun.
Ace Greene and Chelley Bissanthe have overcome quite a few obstacles, but it’s likely that producers will throw a few more their way by exposing footage of Ace choosing to kiss contestant Huda Mustafa in an earlier challenge. Adding fuel to the flames, Chelley was upset when Ace’s heart rate was raised the most by Huda in the “Hearts on Fire” challenge of Episode 24, so the new revelation will likely cause another rift. It’s possible they also show the connection Ace shared with Casa Amor bombshell Coco Watson, who was sent packing in Episode 22, or unseen bits of Chelley and Chris Seeley, another Casa Amor coupling.

Olandria, Chelley and Cierra were fan favorites for much of this season, but the tides changed after the “Stand on Business” challenge in Episode 26. The group got tons of “mean girl” accusations from fans after the way they treated Huda during the challenge. These clips and more are likely to surface on Movie Night, perhaps showcasing the girls’ true colors.
