His hiding skills were garbage.

A suspected thief escaped an Alabama jail and eluded cops for five days before ending up in a dramatic chase with officers in Atlanta — where he was busted crouching in a trash can, wild video shows.

Tyree Chapman, 22, escaped from Bessemer City Jail on Jan. 12, AL.com reported.

Five days later, on Wednesday afternoon, Chapman was spotted in a stolen black Infiniti Q50 at a Chevron gas station in the Atlanta, Ga., area, the Atlanta Police Department said.

Chapman is believed to have wiped the vehicle from a Planet Fitness parking lot sometime after his jailbreak, AL.com said.

The Atlanta’s Aviation Unit tracked down the suspect to the Chevron and saw him getting into the vehicle, aerial footage shared by the department shows.

When officers tried to stop Chapman, he sped away.

The escapee then abandoned the car at a convenience store and tried to evade the police on foot, footage shows.

The dramatic chase included Chapman dashing between suburban homes before jumping into a large blue recycling container and closing the lid over his head.

Officers whipped the lid off – prompting the suspect to appear to leap up in shock before being taken into custody, according to cop body cam video.

A K-9 unit helped authorities recover a handgun that Chapman appeared to have tried to hide in a separate trash can, the Atlanta Police Department said.

The details of Chapman’s escape from Bessemer City Jail were not immediately clear.

He was being held in jail in Jefferson County, Ala., on charges including first-degree theft when he fled, AL.com said.

Now he is also charged in Georgia with driving with a suspended license, reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officers, possession of a firearm or knife while attempting to commit certain felonies and theft by received stolen property, the Atlanta police said.

Chapman is currently in Fulton County Jail awaiting extradition back to Alabama, jail records indicated.

The Bessemer authorities did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for a comment on the incident.
