I hate to be redundant after I covered many of these thoughts in this space last week, but the Blake Snell-Yankee rumors just won’t vanish. And, well, here we are.
On one hand, I learned long ago not to 100 percent dismiss anything when it comes to the Yankees. Not when I walked into spring training one day and there was Roger Clemens. Not when a conversation at a banquet between executives somehow became Alex Rodriguez, Yankees third baseman. Not when the Yankees insisted they would never sign A-Rod if he opted out of his contract before giving him the largest contract in history to return.
So I will not put the Yankees-Snell possibility at zero.
But keep in mind the situation: To sign Snell for the Yankees would cost them their second and fifth pick in the July draft and $1 million in international pool money.
