Aubrey Plaza took the title of her new movie — My Old Ass — very seriously on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show when she walked out using a cane.

While strutting out to the stage, Plaza clutched a cane in one hand and her co-star Maisy Stella’s arm in the other. Following her introduction, host Drew Barrymore ran up to the duo, telling them they looked “so hot,” before explaining to the audience that she refers to Plaza as her “baby.”

“How are we, baby?” Barrymore asked, to which Plaza dryly replied, “I’m fine, Mother, I’m fine.”

Barrymore then asked what we all were thinking: Why the heck was Plaza using a cane?

Was it a fashion statement? Was it a silly joke? Well, the answer to both of those questions was no.

“I just had a bad accident on my knee,” the actress revealed. “It’s the second time I’ve done it, too. I did my left one seven years ago playing basketball and now I did my right one.”

Plaza, 40, tore her ACL playing “knockout” at the Phoenix Mercury’s practice facility during the WNBA All-Star weekend in late July, according to CBS News. However, the injury didn’t stop the star from using her court-side seats at the big game. Instead, she powered through the game relying on crutches and icing her hurt knee.

The Parks and Rec star later addressed her injury in a series of photos she posted to Instagram.

“ALL STAR WEEKEND ???? ???? How it started…how it went… Nothing can stop us!” she captioned her post. “Thank you @wnba for hosting such an amazing weekend and taking such good care of me and my busted knee. Such a great game. See you in Paris (no).”

The Drew Barrymore Show airs on weekdays on CBS. You can check the website for local airtimes.
