Next week, rookie camp commences ahead of the traditional two games against the Flyers freshmen in Allentown, Pa., and the following week, the varsity takes the ice for its first camp under incoming head coach Mike Sullivan.

Peter Laviolette was dismissed as head coach and replaced on May 2 by long-ago assistant Sullivan, who won consecutive Stanley Cup championships in his first two years behind the Penguins’ bench in 2016 and 2017 — but left Pittsburgh without a playoff appearance the past three years and without a playoff-round victory since 2018.
Chris Kreider was traded on June 12. K’Andre Miller was traded on July 1. Earlier that same day, the Blueshirts signed free agent defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov out of Los Angeles for seven years at an AAV of $7 million to team with Adam Fox on the first pair. The organization has pretty much been in a holding pattern since then.
