Last week, The View lost Whoopi Goldberg for a few days as she battled the flu — and on this morning’s episode of the long-running daytime talk show, co-host Ana Navarro was not in her usual seat. Instead, the ladies invited a very special guest co-host to fill in — actress Ariana DeBose.

The ladies marched out to their catchy theme song this morning, with Joy Behar taking her seat in Goldberg’s chair since the latter is typically off on Fridays. However, Navarro — who co-hosts The View on Mondays and Fridays — was noticeably absent as well. That’s why DeBose took her seat at the Hot Topics table.

“Welcome to The View,” Behar said once she got settled in. “Ana Navarro is out today, but joining us as guest co-host, please welcome Oscar winner Ariana DeBose.”

“I’m so happy to be here,” DeBose told the women. “A little nervous. We’re gonna have fun, though, because I love you ladies. I’m so happy to be here.”

When Alyssa Farah Griffin joked that she’s “done far more impressive things than co-host The View,” DeBose told the Hot Topics table that she was “so excited” when she got the call.

So, why was Navarro missing? When will she be back? Here’s everything we know:

The reason behind Navarro’s absence was not disclosed in this morning’s episode of The View. However, Navarro posted on Instagram Thursday (Feb. 27) that she was in Palm Beach, Florida for a “speaking engagement.”

Navarro will likely return to The View next Monday (March 3) to fill in for Behar. DECIDER reached out to the show’s reps for confirmation, but did not hear back by the time of publication.
