Chris Evans said the thought of hosting “Saturday Night Live” is “terrifying” and there’s a reason he’s avoided it for so many years.
The Marvel actor, 41, is starring in the upcoming romantic comedy “Ghosted” with frequent collaborator Ana de Armas, who is guest-hosting “SNL” on April 15.
The pair spoke to ET Canada recently and the Boston native recently admitted that he’s too nervous to appear on an episode of the sketch comedy show.
“Well, now a cameo I can handle,” Evans said, when asked if he would ever appear on the NBC series.
“I’ve avoided hosting ‘SNL’ like the plague for years now just because I’m so scared. It’s terrifying to me,” he added. “A cameo sounds great — that’s perfect.”
The “Gifted” actor then gushed over de Armas: “But hosting, I tip my hat to her. She’s going to be amazing. But it would provide a lot of sleepless nights for me.”
Evans explained that he would be full of anxiety if he ever emceed an episode, also noting that he doesn’t think he’s a “funny person.”
“Maybe I only feel that because I have very, very funny friends who once told me I’m not a funny person,” he recalled. “I just know how I would feel… it would just be an everyday anxiety, constant regret. Why did I do this? I could have been comfortable at my house, in my bed, not worrying about this.”
The “Blonde” starlet, 34, will be lending her comedic talents to the Studio 8H stage alongside musical guest Karol G. The hosting gig will mark de Armas’ debut on “SNL.”
De Armas and Evans’ newest film premieres April 21 on AppleTV+ and it is their third film together, after 2019 “Knives Out” and last year’s “The Gray Man.”
“Ghosted” follows the whirlwind romance of Cole (Evans) and Sadie (de Armas), as they go on an international adventure to save the world on their second date.
“Rocketman” director Dexter Fletcher is at the helm of the flick and it also stars Adrien Brody, Mike Moh, Tim Blake Nelson, Anna Deavere Smith, Marwan Kenzari and Tate Donovan.
The Cuban actress and the “Fantastic Four” star both have upcoming projects added to their plate.
De Armas was cast in the “John Wick” spinoff entitled, “Ballerina,” set for a 2024 release.
She will star as an assassin named Rooney/ the titular “Ballerina” character, who goes on the hunt for the people who killed her entire family.
Evans is making the move to Netflix and to the drama genre with his upcoming conspiracy film, “Pain Hustlers.”
The streaming service is set to drop the movie on Oct. 23 and members of the ensemble cast include Emily Blunt, Andy García and Catherine O’Hara.
