Whoopi Goldberg isn’t shy about her sex life on The View. After all, any longtime fan is familiar with her penchant for the “hit and run” hookup, but we got a little more insight into the particulars of her romantic past on this morning’s episode thanks to a discussion about Jennifer Lopez, Ben Affleck, and one Bustle writer’s divorce.
Goldberg kicked off the segment by explaining that the writer had penned an op-ed inspired by Lopez and Affleck’s second breakup. In the article, the author said her own “divorce led to new experiences and great sex,” Goldberg explained.
Joy Behar, who has been through her own divorce, remarked, “That’s true. I could see that,” then asked her co-host, “Don’t you agree, Whoopi? You were divorced a couple of times.”
Goldberg — who married Alvin Martin in 1973 and divorced him 1979, then married David Claessen in 1986 and divorced him in 1988, and finally wed Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994 then divorced him in 1995 — didn’t appear to entirely agree. She shook her head as she told Behar, “It had nothing to do with the divorce. I was just glad to get the hell out of there.”
She then clarified, “I was always having great sex. I just wasn’t having any fun. I don’t understand what she’s saying.”

But the intimate chat didn’t stop there. Later in today’s show, Goldberg seemingly confessed to being a member of the mile high club while chatting about famous sex therapist Dr. Ruth with the panel.
As Behar recalled “talking about sex in an airplane” with Dr. Ruth on her radio show back in the ’90s, she said the therapist hung up on her when Behar asked if she’d ever done the deed in the sky.
Goldberg pointed out that it might have been a little tricky for Dr. Ruth to hook up in a plane because of her height. “If you’re 4’7, it’s tough,” she said, joking, “Not that I know anything about that.”
But Sunny Hostin teased her, “Sounds like someone else was in the mile high club…” and Goldberg basically copped to it, replying, “Oh, child, I got all kind of cards for the mile high club!”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
