Whoopi Goldberg found herself wandering into NSFW territory on this morning’s episode of The View, but insisted it was entirely unintentional.
The longtime co-host sent the audience and the Hot Topics table into hysterics during a discussion about a Washington Post advice column featuring a question from a woman wondering if she should tell her husband that his brother “made a pass” at her during a dinner party.
Goldberg began to detail the specifics of the situation, telling the audience, “She was checking on the meat,” but she didn’t get far.
Her words were met with plenty of laughter from the studio and the panel, and Joy Behar, being the comedian she is, jumped right in.
“No, she wasn’t,” she quipped, but Goldberg wasn’t taking the bait, replying, “Yes, she was.”
Sara Haines then joined in on the fun, joking, “Who made the pass if she was checking on the meat?” but Goldberg once again stuck to the script, referring to her notecards as she attempted to explain, “He made the pass while she was checking on the meat.”
The panel finally let Goldberg continue as she explained that the husband’s brother touched the woman and moved his hand “toward her behind” during the dinner. Sneaking in a dig at the unnamed man, she added, “I don’t know why he still has hands.”
After she revealed that the woman once dated her husband’s touchy brother, Haines couldn’t resist making one more joke about the former couple “checking on meat.”
Exasperated, Goldberg exclaimed, “No, the ‘checking on the meat’ came from these guys!” gesturing somewhat exasperatedly at the studio audience.

Continuing to playfully poke fun at Goldberg, Haines replied, “We don’t know if there was ‘checking on the meat,'” and Goldberg finally cracked a smile.
“See, y’all always trying to trip me up!” she said. “But that’s what they said, and that’s what I told you.”
And there you have it. To see the now-infamous advice column for yourself — which does, indeed, include a line about “taking the meat out of the oven” — head over to The Washington Post.
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
