Whoopi Goldberg turned an ordinary chat about politics into an eyebrow-raising moment on this morning’s episode of The View when she tried to explain casting a ballot using some rather unusual terms.
The moment stemmed from a discussion about former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who floated the idea of a third-party presidential ticket as a way to stop Donald Trump.
Alyssa Farah Griffin reacted to the idea by once again warning the panel that the U.S. is “careening into dictatorship” under Trump.
Griffin, who claimed yesterday that Trump is already prepping his 2024 White House staff, told her co-hosts, “I cannot raise enough alarm bells about how dangerous he is.”
Hostin questioned if people are listening to calls from people like Griffin because polls are showing that Trump will likely be the nominee “no matter what.” Now, Hostin admitted, “Liz Cheney is our savior” because she “stands on democracy.”
“I would consider this sort of split ticket that she’s talking about,” she shared, while Goldberg chimed in to say that everyone thought she was “crazy” when she proposed the idea of a split ticket years ago.
Later in the segment, Goldberg proclaimed, “This is not about them, this is about us,” referring to the candidates in the upcoming presidential election. “We make this decision. I don’t like polls because polls can be manipulated. I like when somebody goes in and they vote.”
But she didn’t stop there. Goldberg emphatically continued, “I like when somebody puts their thing in the box” — at this point, she used exaggerated hand gestures to mime shoving something into an imaginary container — before adding, “and they walk back, you know? Because then you can see what someone did.”

Her comments earned a shocked look from Sara Haines, who was seated beside her. Goldberg caught her innuendo, thankfully, as she turned to Haines and said, “I know that sounded worse than I meant it.”
Haines and the rest of the panel laughed as Hostin confirmed to Goldberg, “It did, yeah,” while Goldberg insisted, “I know where it came from now!”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
