There has been one question plaguing The View ever since President Donald Trump moved back into the White House: who is the new leader of the Democratic Party? Well, on this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show, Whoopi Goldberg brushed off the question and instead called out Republican lawmakers for not “engaging” with their supporters the way the Democrats have since their loss in the 2024 election.

The Hot Topic came after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Bernie Sanders drew more than 30,000 people to their Denver rally over the weekend, where they pushed progressive policies and stood up against Trump and his constituents.

“I find it fascinating that everyone wants the Democrats to figure out what to do and how to do it when we’ve told you what was happening, we said what was coming, and people made a decision,” Goldberg said. “What I do love seeing is people going and engaging themselves. “

“There are so many Republicans that have decided not to engage at all. You see people and you see the pictures are there of the Republicans but the Republicans are not there,” she continued. “That should tell you something. If you don’t have the cajones to come and meet the people who put you in power, then you shouldn’t be there.”

Producers quickly bleeped out Goldberg’s “cajones” remark, though she continued to call out the political party for “ducking and dodging” their supporters, seemingly referring to the House GOP’s campaign arm Richard Hudson telling Republican lawmakers not to attend in-person town halls. She also slammed Trump’s deportation policies.

“People are concerned about all the things that you mentioned, but people don’t like seeing their right to protest disappear,” she said. “They don’t like seeing, when you said you just going to pick up the bad guys, and you picking up everybody and you not sending anybody back.”

According to Goldberg, Americans want these issues “fixed” — but not in the way Trump is doing it.

“They don’t like the way it’s happening because that means any of us, who someone says, ‘You look a little Spanish to me,’ or, ‘I don’t like what you’re saying,’ or, I don’t like who I think you are.’ These are the things that are starting to disappear and these are the things that are not the things that they were put into power to take care of,” she said.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
