The time has come! The Trust: A Game of Greed has aired its final episode, revealing which players will be splitting the $250,000 cash prize. Who will it be? Will Tolú suffer a last-minute elimination after her recent squabbles? Will Brian, Josh, and Gaspare be able to maintain their “family” dynamic? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Netflix reality show premiered January 10, 2024 and aired over the course of three weeks, the final week culminating in the finale — which aired January 24, 2024 at 3:00 a.m. ET on the streamer.

The show followed 11 strangers as they were given the opportunity to either evenly split $250,000 or secretly eliminate their housemates and steal funds for themselves.

Since its premiere, the series offered a few memorable moments, including Tolú calling out Jake for racial microagressions, Bryce outing himself as a millionaire, and Mama Jay’s on-screen fart.

The top of The Trust Episode 8, the first season finale, sees five contestants — Tolú, Julie, Jake, Brian, and Gaspare — remaining in the game. Lindsey was voted out in Episode 7 by Tolú and Gaspare after her voting history was revealed and she was deemed a threat to the remaining players.

The five players are told that they will each be invited individually into the Vault, giving them an opportunity to steal money from the collective funds and sabotage other players. At this time, host Brook Baldwin reveals that there’s a total of $268,000 on the table.

The players go in and out of the Vault with Tolú being the only one to accept the sneaky offer, allowing her to take $25,000 from the collective funds. “I’m sorry, no amount of promises that I’ve made to this group will make me break the first promise I made to my parents,” she says in reference to her low-income upbringing during a private interview. “I do feel bad though, but not that bad.” Tolú decides to keep her decision a secret in order to avoid creating tension.

Next is the final voting ceremony, which sees Brooke announcing that there is now a total of $243,000 left in the trust — revealing that someone took the $25,000 offer. The players appear surprised by that information, but Tolú keeps a straight face to keep her cover.

“I am mind-blown right now. We literally just talked about this, that we weren’t gonna do this. Yet here we are, on the final step, and still… someone’s taking money and one of the people who I’m on this line with is one of the ones who took the money, so I’m pissed off,” Gaspare says in an interview.

“The fact that one of them lied, I’m pissed about it,” Julie adds. “I was just played.”

Each player then reveals their final decision and nobody is voted out. This means that all five players will split the cash prize and go home with $48,600 each. So, the winners of The Trust Season 1 are Brian, Jake, Gaspare, Julie, and Tolú.

Well, that was fun! The Trust proved itself to be an interesting experiment – much like Love Is Blind – that may not yield the most satisfying results but still provides insight into the human psyche, along with some quality entertainment. Since the gameplay is rather simple, the series felt a bit repetitive towards the end, but Netflix kept the season short and sweet and called it quits right on time.

As for who won, I’m just glad that it was more than a single player because the more the merrier — especially since none of the players have to do anything of worth to win.

That was a crazy ride! Let’s do it again!
