How long would you survive in a zombie apocalypse? Would you make sacrifices for the safety of those around you or would your main concern be your own safety? In the new reality series Zombieverse, Netflix has 10 contestants face the harsh realities of a zombie attack in Seoul, Korea. And as expected, not all of them make it across the finish line.
Told over eight episodes, the show immerses its contestants in a realistic zombie apocalypse simulation filled with a variety of obstacles and quests. They are directed to make it to an evacuation ship at Incheon’s Wolmi Island, which is roughly a 30-minute drive from where they begin in Hongdae, Seoul.
The contestants included familiar faces like Sweet Home actor Lee Si-young and rapper DinDin, along with TV presenter Noh Hong-chul, comedian Park Na-rae, singer Tsuki, baseball player Yoo Hee-kwan, YouTubers (and siblings) Jonathan and Patricia, reality star Kwachu Hyeong, and medical YouTuber Dex.
Wondering who survived the zombie simulation? Here’s a breakdown of the Zombieverse ending.
Five of the 10 contestants survived the zombie simulation – which is quite impressive!
However, only three of the contestants completed the official quest and made it onto the proper evacuation ship.
If you’re wondering who “died,” that would be Noh Hong-chul, Park Na-rae, Yoo Hee-kwan, Jonathan, and Kwachu Hyeong.

During the final chunk of the Zombieverse finale, the surviving five contestants have made it to Incheon’s Wolmi Island. After locating a boat close to the shore, they journey into the water using a makeshift floatation device made from large containers found on the shipping dock. Two contestants, Tsuki and DinDin, manage to get to the large boat and climb onboard. In order to move the flotation device back and forth without it sinking, they have created a system using a long rope with one person staying on land to pull the device back. Once each person reaches the boat, they must climb a row of tires to make it onto the boat safely.
Lee Si-young insists that she will be the last to journey to the boat and Patricia admits that she can’t swim and is skeptical, therefore she is the second-to-last to go. The YouTuber hardly makes it to the boat and when she does, she is unable to climb the tires. She exclaims, “Okay, I’ll just die!” The zombies begin to make their way to the dock and are temporarily stopped by a weak metal fence.

Dex hops off the boat to help Patricia, but he is unable to get her on the boat. They float back to the shore and Dex, Patricia, and Lee decide to journey to the boat on the floatation device together. As this happens, the boat’s owner comes over and get frustrated by the boat crashers as it is revealed that he wasn’t anticipating their arrival. He cuts the rope and begins to jet off, leaving the other three in the water.
Dex jumps off the device and pushes the two back to shore where the zombies have made it through the fence and are slowly crowding them. Out of nowhere, a giant bus appears and pushes past the crowd of zombies. The trio gets on the bus, which turns into a boat and goes into the water. At this point, it is revealed that the simulation has gone on for 61 hours and the trio boarded the real rescue boat while Tsuki and DinDin were on a random boat.
Here’s where things get weird! The final minutes of the episode teases a time jump to a year later when Seoul is still infested with zombies. In fact, a former contestant who didn’t make it to the end of the contest is shown in a zombified form, as a leader for the undead. He feeds a couple of zombies in an alley and then pulls out an electric keyboard and begins to perform. We don’t know exactly when this series was filmed or if the segment truly took place a year later. However, Netflix states that the series is a hybrid of unscripted and scripted content – and we’re confident that the very final moments of the episode fall into the latter category.
