It’s a law of The Last of Us: If you fall in love with a new character, something tragic is going to happen to them. The latest victim of this curse is Riley (Storm Reid). Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) appears in an extended flashback in Episode 7, “Left Behind.” And if any episode requires you to have tissues at the ready, it’s this one.
This may be the first time we’re seeing Riley in The Last of Us, but chances are high you’ve encountered her actor before. Here’s how you know Storm Reid.
That would be Storm Reid. Though Riley doesn’t appear in the original game, she’s a main character in the downloadable expansion pack, The Last of Us: Left Behind. In the DLC she’s portrayed by Yaani King.
If you love HBO dramas, then you already know Reid. She portrays Rue’s (Zendaya) younger sister Gia in Euphoria. She’s also known for playing Meg in the live-action A Wrinkle in Time, Tina in Sleight, Tyla in The Suicide Squad, Sydney in The Invisible Man, and Patricia in A Happening of Monumental Proportions. Additionally, she’s appeared in the TV shows When They See Us, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, and — in one of her earliest roles — in the music video for Jay-Z’s “Family Feud.”
In both the Left Behind DLC and the show, Riley is 16 years old and Ellie is 14. If she looks way older than Ellie, that’s just because puberty is wild. In real life, Reid and Ramsey are the same age — 19 years old.
Reid is 5 foot 7 inches tall. That makes her about three inches taller than the average woman in the United States. Once again, this question about Reid has more to do with Ramsey than her. Ramsey is 5 feet and 1.5 inches tall, so that’s why Reid looks so much taller.
