The Summer I Turned Pretty is back for its highly-anticipated third and final season. But unlike summers past, the show isn’t solely centered on Cousins this time around. And because of that, we’re meeting lots of new faces!

The season opened at Finch College, where we met Belly (Lola Tung) and Jeremiah’s (Gavin Casalegno) college friends, Anika (Sofia Bryant) and Redbird (Tanner Zagarino). Then we headed to Stanford to check in with Conrad (Christopher Briney) and his new go-to gal, Agnes (Zoé De Grand’Maison). At home, Taylor (Rain Spencer) is spending some quality time with her mom Lucinda (Kristen Connolly). And we’re also getting to know one of Steven (Sean Kaufman) and (as of Episode 4) Jere’s coworkers, Denise, played by Isabella Briggs.

So who is Denise on The Summer I Turned Pretty? And what do we know about Isabella Briggs, the actor who plays Denise? And was she in TSITP books?

Here’s everything to know about TSITP‘s new Season 3 character, Denise, who we’ll likely be seeing a lot more of as the Prime Video series progresses.

In The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, Steven and Jeremiah both get internships at Adam Fisher’s venture capital firm, Breaker Capital, where Denise, a senior associate, has worked for two years. Since Steven starts his internship first, the two get to know each other a bit ahead of Jeremiah’s arrival, and though they initially have workplace rivalry vibes, as the season progresses, they soften and clearly grow to like one another.

When Steven first started at Breaker, Denise called him a “glorified intern” and consistently poked fun at him for his age, inexperience, and close connection to Adam. She cares deeply about her job, but she doesn’t feel her work is being recognized. When Jeremiah starts his internship and she repeats the hazing, Steven confronts her and says, “Be nice to my boy.” Though Steven still has feelings for Taylor, the two are technically broken up at the moment, so some fans wonder if he and Denise will grow closer and eventually cross a line to become more than just co-workers. Or will she get to know Jere better?! While we wait to see more of Denise, Steven, and Jeremiah’s journey unfold, here’s what Briggs and Kaufman have teased about their characters.

“She is an incredibly hard and passionate worker, with a bit of a sardonic edge. You’ll begin to see this workplace rivalry form between her and Steven. However, as the show progresses, you’ll get to see more of her vulnerability and understand the root of the initial opinions she holds in the beginning of the show,” Briggs said in a July 2025 interview with Numéro.

In an interview with Today, Kaufman said that “[their] workplace dynamic really changes Steven.” So here’s hoping her maturity, responsible nature, and strong work ethic change him for the better.

While an assistant to Adam was mentioned in The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s third book, Denise’s character was crafted specifically for the series. As a reminder, Steven’s character was a lot less present in the books, so many of his storylines — including the time spent seeing his internship at Breaker — weren’t in Jenny Han’s original text. But new characters and twists only makes watching the show even more exciting for those who already think they know how the story unfolds.

The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s Denise is played by Isabella Briggs, a 25-year-old actor who’s fairly new to Hollywood but is already making a buzz. Since graduating Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama, with a BFA in Acting in 2022, Briggs starred in three series ahead of The Summer I Turned Pretty. Her credits include Fatal Attraction (starring Joshua Jackson, Lizzy Caplan, and Amanda Peet), Sugar (starring Colin Farrell), and Evil (starring Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, and Michael Emerson).

Considering Briggs is a series regular in TSITP Season 3, we’ll likely be seeing a lot more of her. But if you want to stay up-to-date with the actor outside of the series, you can follow her on Instagram at @bellaabriggs, where she had 5,625 followers on Episode 4 premiere day.

New episodes of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 premiere Wednesdays on Prime Video.
