Where to Stream:

American Idol

Eight contestants remain on this season of American Idol, and the second half of this week’s doubleheader airs tonight.

Last night, the Top 10 was whittled down to the Top 8 on Ladies Night, where all of the performers sang songs by iconic women of music. Tonight, the Top 8 will perform songs chosen in secret for them by one of Idol‘s three judges: Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood. Jelly Roll is also set to appear as an “artist in residence” tonight.

At the end of the night, the Top 6 will be revealed, but a special judges save will be implemented, letting the panel of judges save one of the two eliminated singers. This means, going into next weekend, there will be a Top 7.

Yes! A new episode of American Idol airs tonight, May 5, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

The only way to watch “American Idol” live without cable is by using a live TV streaming service. We recommend DIRECTV, which comes with a five-day free trial and includes ABC in its base plan.

fuboTV is another great free option that’s also offering great savings on the first month. After a seven-day free trial, you’ll be able to save $20 on your first month, bringing the $84.99/month price down to $64.99.

American Idol will not stream live on Hulu, but subscribers will be able to watch new episodes of American Idol the day after they air on cable.

It’s the most cost-effective way to tune in to American Idol if you’re fine not watching it live.

These eight contestants survived last night’s live elimination to perform in tonight’s episode.
