After the first two episodes of Season 37 of Dancing With The Stars, the eliminations seemed to make sense to the dancers and audience alike. Neither Corey Feldman nor Baron Davis seemed to be in sync with their respective partners, so it did not come as a surprise or shock when both were sent home after Episode 2. However, all that changed last night, as the eliminations after “TikTok Night” seemed to visibly shock the studio audience and the dancers alike.
Before we get to that, though, let’s accentuate the positive before we eliminate the negative. Robert Irwin and his partner Whitney Carson earned the highest scores of the night, both from the judges and from the public’s votes, setting themselves up as one of the early favorites to go all the way to the finals. And after landing in the Final 3 last week, Hilaria Baldwin and her part Gleb Savchenko didn’t suffer the same tense fate this week, as they were saved from elimination relatively early in the proceedings.
This week’s finale three couples with the lowest scores from both judges’ and public’s votes were Fifth Harmony singer Lauren Jauregui and her pro partner Brandon Armstrong, sitcom veteran Elaine Hendrix and her partner Alan Berston, and longtime TV sidekick Andy Richter and his partner Emma Slater. None of these couples were in the final three last week, so the surprise and tension on their faces was clear and evident.
However, when the verdict came in, shock and surprise swept over the audience as Lauren and Brandon were unceremoniously dismissed from the DWTS Season 37 proceedings after their pyro-laden “Cha Cha Cha” — to Fifth Harmony’s hit single “Work From Home” — failed to impress the judges, landing a score of 18/30.
Dancing co-host Julianne Hough asked Lauren how she was feeling at the moment, and she answered with a simple statement: “Pissed.”
She quickly added how “grateful” she was for her short time on the show, and what a pleasure it was to dance in the ballroom alongside Brandon.
After getting through the shock from the announcement, fans of the Fifth Harmony singer quickly turned to social media to express how they felt towards Lauren and Brandon’s sudden elimination.
Some fans were “pissed off” just as much as Lauren, while others chipped in to say that they were “happy” that Andy and Emma got to stay for another week.
After the episode aired, Decider’s own Hope Sloop weighed in with her thoughts on this controversial elimination on Decider’s TikTok channel:
Well, consider us shocked, too! We can’t wait to see what other conversation-worthy moments DWTS has for us on next week’s episode, “Disney Night”, which will air on Tuesday, October 7 at 8 PM EST live on both ABC and Disney+.
