Temptation Island recently made its Netflix debut after its run on the USA Network last year. Still hosted by Mark L. Walberg (no, not Marky Mark), the third reboot of the early 2000s reality show still hold the same premise. Four couples that are not married yet travel to a tropical island, where they are separated for two weeks while being forced to commingle with a number of single members of the opposite sex, meant to tempt them into having an affair. During weekly bonfires, where they are shown video clips of what their partners have been up to, couples can either leave the island together, with someone else, or leave alone.
Ever since it first aired on FOX back in 2001, this show has stirred a lot of controversy. Its first season proved to be a success with ratings, but soon went down after Seasons 2 and 3. The revamped version on USA Network premiered in 2019, 16 years after Season 3, where it ran on USA until Netflix picked it up for this new season.
Filming for the show took place in a 17 day block, according to executive producers David Goldberg and David Friedman. Bonfires were filmed on random days, sometime expected and other times unexpected. The two groups houses were separated so that they wouldn’t be able to see or hear each other. Principal photography began in May 2024, and ended in early June.
The show was filmed in Hawaii, on the west side of the Island of Hawaii in Kailua-Kona, the second largest settlement on the island. Hawaii has been used the last few seasons dating back to its time on USA Network, but previous locations have included the Caribbean and Belize.
When not shooting at the two group houses, filming also took place at various sites in Kailua-Kona, when participants went on dates around the area. That included the Cheeky Tiki, Magics Beach Grill, and Sunset Kai Lanai.
Temptation Island is now available to stream on Netflix for $7.99/month. All 10 episodes were released at the same time on March 12th.
