Everybody’s new Aussie obsession didn’t have to leave its homeland to shoot its scenes.
Created by Kitty Flanagan and Marty Sheargold, Fisk is a comedy series that follows lawyer Helen Tudor-Fisk (Flanagan) as she struggles to balance her chaotic personal life with her new job at a law firm called Gruber & Gruber. The show began airing on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 2021, and recently grew in popularity overseas after being added to Netflix, where it is now streaming internationally.
After being added to the streamer on August 1, 2023, the show immediately made its way to the top of the platform’s charts, and the internet has been abuzz with praise for Flanagan and her sharp work. This newfound obsession has, however, left viewers with a few pressing questions.
We’ve already quelled some concerns about how many seasons the show has and whether it’ll be renewed for more – so, let’s move on to the next topic. Where was Fisk filmed? Was the series actually filmed in Australia?
Desperate to learn more about the filming locations for Flanagan’s beloved series? Continue reading for everything you need to know.
You guessed it! Fisk was filmed in the Land Down Under. That’s right – Australia, babes!
More specifically, the series was filmed in Melbourne, Australia, the capital of the Australian state of Victoria. This should come as no surprise as, in the series, Helen had bid adieu to Sydney, Australia for Melbs after getting divorced and ousted from her job for “attacking” a client.
Early on, it is revealed that the character is from Melbourne and has family in the city, which comes in handy when she’s kicked out of her rental home by her noisy landlord.

In an interview with TV Tonight, Flanagan said that the series was filmed in North Melbourne with Season 1 filming during the COVID-19 lockdown. “You’ll notice a lot of times people only come to the door because we weren’t allowed to have another person in the room,” the comedian noted about the filming process. “We had to change things a lot. Once you’ve got two cameras and a sound person, there might not be room for any actors!”
Flanagan also stated that whenever the cast was filming a scene outside, people in the background were donning masks. She stated that they had to “be creative” during these shots to avoid making a show about the pandemic.
Per IMDb, the series frequently filmed at 44-48 Errol Street.
Throughout the end credits for the series, the producers give a shout-out to the city of Melbourne, the Lithuanian Club in North Melbourne, the City of Hobsons Bay and Queen Victoria Market among others. The show also offers an acknowledgement for the “traditional owners of the land on which Fisk was produced.”
So, if you ever find yourself exploring Australia, keep your eyes peeled for Gruber & Gruber!
