The Giants are in touch on Matt Chapman, and though manager Bob Melvin would love him, it isn’t known how close things are.
The Cubs are also a possibility for Chapman, and of course they make sense for Cody Bellinger.
The Giants, Mariners and Angels are also logical for Bellinger. And here’s one completely speculative landing spot: Philadelphia. The Phillies are consistently successful in free agency, and they got almost nothing offensively out of center field in October.
The Mets have been in touch with J.D. Martinez, as The Post’s Mike Puma reported. But it’s unknown how much progress there is.
The Giants are on Jorge Soler, as Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The Angels are staying in touch on Blake Snell (and Jordan Montgomery and Bellinger). They like Snell, but team owner Arte Moreno hasn’t given the go-ahead.

The Yankees suggested they were out once Snell declined their initial offer. But they still have rotation questions.
The Rangers may be waiting on a ruling from the bankruptcy court but remain logical for Montgomery. The Red Sox are still looking into starters and could be another option.
Jose Altuve told the Astros last month he didn’t want to enter spring in a walk year. The $125 million, five-year extension made sense and makes Altuve a lifetime Astro. No other result was plausible, as Altuve is wrongly blamed by other teams’ fans for the 2017 scandal (he was one who asked that the pitches not be relayed to him).

It will be harder for the Astros to lock up Alex Bregman, who’s seeking a longer deal, probably along the lines of Xander Bogaerts’ deal.
The Red Sox are still fielding offers on star closer Kenley Jansen and others. They have a deep stash of outfield prospects, which has teams asking about Jarren Duran.
The Padres, seeking a lefty-hitting outfielder, are interested. And the Padres and Dodgers are among candidates for Jansen. But San Diego may be more interested in a starter like Hyun-Jin Ryu.
