2022 was a busy year for actress Grace Van Dien, whose Stranger Things Season 4 character became a household name thanks to the iconic “Chrissy Wake Up” remix that went viral on TikTok. Aside from starring in the hit Netflix series, Van Dien also appeared in the thriller What Comes Around.

The movie follows a “young love affair that becomes a menacing game of cat and mouse where nothing is what it seems,” according to Prime Video‘s description.

What Comes Around, which was originally titled Roost, originally debuted at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. However, it wasn’t until August 2023 that IFC gained the rights, then retitled and distributed the film in the United States.

What Comes Around is a thriller that explores the tumultuous relationship between a teenage girl named Anna (Grace Van Dien) and her mom Beth (Summer Phoenix). Tensions between them begin to rise when Anna forms a romantic relationship with a nearly 30-year-old man online.

Van Dien previously opened up to Us Weekly about working with actor Kyle Gallner, who plays the older man seducing her character.

“Kyle is an angel. I am constantly looking for the next thing he is in. Like, I tried to watch Smile recently because I saw he is in that, but I got like five minutes in and then I got too scared,” she said in the August 2023 interview. “But Kyle is the kindest person. He is always making sure that everything is OK and our communication is on par. I don’t understand how we found everyone [in the cast].”
