Cal then meets Jacob Palmer (Ryan Gosling), a smooth-talking ladies man who offers to help change his situation and teach him how to be more suave. However, Jacob may be willing to change his own ways after meeting Hannah (Emma Stone), who he immediately falls head over heels for, but presents him the challenge of being hard to get.
