It’s been five whole days without Whoopi Goldberg on The View, so we can understand why fans may have some questions. Fortunately, we have all the answers!
The last time Goldberg was on The View was more than a week ago—on Thursday (June 19), to be exact—since she is normally off on Fridays. Instead, Joy Behar has been moderating the Hot Topics panel all week, while Ana Navarro—who typically co-hosts on Monday and Fridays—has been giving her unfiltered thoughts from Behar’s usual seat at the center of the table.
So, why wasn’t Goldberg on The View today? And when will she be back? We have you covered. Keep reading for everything we know!
Behar addressed Goldberg’s absence on Monday morning’s (June 23) broadcast, revealing that the EGOT has been in Italy accepting an award for her memoir Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me.
“We are all jealous of Whoopi today because she’s in Italy. I hope it’s 100 degrees,” Behar joked at the top of Monday’s episode. “She’s in Italy accepting an award for her book Bits and Pieces so she will be out this week.”

Behar told audiences that Goldberg would be out this entire week — and since The View is on hiatus for the 4th of July holiday all of next week, we likely won’t see Goldberg back at the Hot Topics table until Monday, July 7.
