When The View welcomed vice presidential candidate Tim Walz this morning, the Hot Topics table was buzzing with excitement. Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro were all itching to ask the politician questions about the impending election, but one of the show’s mainstays wasn’t there to help interview the possible VP.

Sunny Hostin was notably missing from The View this morning and didn’t get a chance to chat politics with Walz. When Goldberg opened the show, she congratulated the New York Liberty basketball team on their WNBA championship, then briefly mentioned that Hostin would not be on the show today.

“Sunny is traveling today, so she’s not here,” Goldberg said, before quickly introducing Walz, their special guest.

As Goldberg briefly explained in the opening moments of today’s episode, Hostin missed the show because she was traveling. Hostin was present for the show’s “View Your Deal” segment, which was likely pre-taped. Although Goldberg didn’t specify where her co-host had gone, the show rang in Hostin’s birthday — which was yesterday (Oct. 21) — on their Friday (Oct. 18) episode, so it’s possible her travels were celebratory.
