Apple TV+‘s hit workplace thriller Severance has a look unlike any other show on television thanks to a combination of breathtaking cinematography, unique set design, and iconic filming locations that serve as perfect backdrops for Dan Erickson’s compelling storylines.

From the Lumon Industries building where Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro) take the elevator down to the Severed Floor to other major location shoots in upstate New York, New Jersey, Canada, and more, the Severance cast and crew have their fair share of special spots outside of  York Studios in the Bronx, New York, where their blinding white hallway maze set lies.

Curious where Severance Season 1 and Season 2 filmed? Want to know more about the filming locations of crucial Kier, PE hot spots like Pip’s Bar & Grille or Mark and Ms. Selvig’s houses? Or want to know where major episodes like Season 2, Episode 4, “Woe’s Hollow” were filmed? Decider’s got you covered.

Here are some key filming locations to know (and perhaps even visit!) from Severance Season 1 and Season 2.

As director Ben Stiller explained on the first episode of The Severance Podcast, “The Lumon building is the Bell Labs building that was built in the early ’50s, early’60s. Iris Sarnin and Jessica Lee Gangne, our cinematographer, found it Googling, just looking for office buildings.”

“She found this overhead shot of Bell Labs in Holmdel, New Jersey, that had this insane sort of egg-shaped parking lot around the building that was so huge,” Stiller said. “And so we went down there and we checked it out…and that was the first location we found. And it dictated so much for us. The biggest thing when we got there that we realized was that nobody had filmed there.”

According to a Holmdel Historical Society website, the building has quite a rich history, was built from 1959-1962, and spans two million square feet. For those curious, the real-life Lumon location can be found at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, New Jersey.

While a number of Season 1 filming locations were also used in Season 2, here are several memorable shooting spots that helped establishes Severance‘s Season 1 vibes:

In Season 2, Severance seriously expanded its filming locations. Per Season 2’s production notes, the sophomore season shot scenes at “various new locations in greater New York including Kingston, Beacon, Hudson, Ossining, Utica, Nyack, Long Island, Brooklyn and Palisades Interstate Park, as well as venturing further afield to the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador.”

Specific Season 2 locations also include the following:

One of the most memorable location shoots of Season 2 takes place during Episode 4, “Woe’s Hollow,” when the MDR team bundles up and embarks on a snowy ORTBO (Outdoor Retreat Team Building Occurrence). The episode was filmed Minnewaska State Park Preserve in Ulster County, New York.

According to the park’s website, it’s “situated on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain Ridge, more than 2,000 feet above sea level and surrounded by rugged, rocky terrain. The Park Preserve features numerous waterfalls, three crystalline sky lakes, lush, green forests, sheer cliffs opening to beautiful views, 35 miles of carriage roads and 50 miles of footpaths. Visitors can enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, picnicking, scuba-diving, rock-climbing, bouldering, paddling, cross-country skiing and horseback riding in this unique setting.”

New episodes of Severance Season 2 premiere Fridays on Apple TV+.
