Wednesday’s Live with Kelly and Mark kicked off with a surprise absence.

Instead of Kelly Ripa at the co-host desk, Live‘s announcer Deja Vu joined Mark Consuelos in leading this morning’s episode.

Deja is no stranger to the co-host desk, as she has stepped in for Ripa in the past. Guests on Wednesday’s episode included Running Point star Kate Hudson and Jason Derulo.

Ripa and Consuelos have also been gearing up for Live‘s annual After the Oscars Show, which airs live from the Dolby Theatre on the morning of Monday, March 3. In addition to the co-host couple, Monday’s show will also feature Jerry O’Connell and Nikki Glaser, as well as a performance from Steve Aoki and Lil Jon.

The award show special’s open, which pays homage to Wicked, dropped on the syndicated morning show’s Instagram page on Tuesday (Feb. 25). The video features Ripa and Consuelos taking on the roles of Glinda and Fiyero, respectively.

Consuelos refrained from mentioning where Ripa was during this morning’s host chat, simply noting that Deja Vu was “filling in” for his wife and co-host. No further details were shared as to why Ripa was absent in the early moments of the episode.
