Jesse Williams‘ new Prime Video series Hotel Costiera is a stunning dramedy that takes viewers to the coast of Positano, Italy, where a strange mystery is afoot.
Williams stars as former marine Daniel De Luca who returns to Italy as a “fixer” – a lá Scandal‘s Olivia Pope – for one of the country’s most luxurious hotels. When he’s not trying to solve problems for the upper echelon of Italian society, Daniel is also trying to solve the mysterious disappearance of Alice, one of the owner’s daughters.
But what he uncovers turns out to be even more dangerous than he could have imagined.
“Daniel must do everything he can to bring her home, but facing those who kidnapped the girl will be more challenging than any problem Daniel has ever faced,” a press release from Prime Video notes.
Williams is reportedly the only American cast member on the show. He’s joined by actors Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Pierpaolo Spollon, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Alejandra Onieva and Jean-Hugues Anglade.
Much like The White Lotus, the new international drama offers stunning vistas for Williams to traverse as De Luca. But where was Hotel Costiera filmed?

Hotel Costiera filmed on location in Italy.
In fact, according to Forbes, the new series was filmed in Positano, located on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
The Hotel Costiera might not be real. But the hotel scenes were filmed at the very real, very luxurious Villa Treville Positano, per Forbes. The five acre estate is exclusive – it can only accommodate 40 guests at most – but it has several perks for visitors.
Williams admitted on Today that the idea of filming outside of the states was “very, very appealing” when he was considering the role.
“Shooting on the Amalfi Coast for four-and-a-half months wasn’t so bad,” he joked, later adding that he “really wanted to work outside of the states” and “broaden” his horizons.
Hotel Costiera is streaming now on Prime Video.
