Listen, we’re gonna need something to fill our Sunday night hole in our viewing hearts after The White Lotus Season 3 ends tonight. Luckily, The Last of Us is returning for its second season, where we’ll pick up on Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) stories 5 years after the events of Season 1. The show’s official logline reads “when a violent event disrupts their peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure.”

If you’ve played The Last of Us Part II video game, you probably have some idea on where the story is going. But if you’ve only watched this show, best you avoid spoilers for the game. This season is set to introduce important new characters, including Jesse (Young Mazino), Dina (Isabella Merced), and Abby (Kaitlyn Dever).

MAX has been on a roll this year with its original series, so when can we expect The Last of Us to return to HBO?

The first episode of The Last of Us Season 2 is set to release on Sunday, April 13th at 9 PM ET/PT on both HBO and MAX. New episodes will air weekly every Sunday night.

Season 2 of The Last of Us contains 7 episodes, less than the first season, which had 9.

You can watch The Last of Us on HBO through your TV provider or stream it on MAX.

MAX subscription plans start at $9.99/month, plus you can also add MAX to your Hulu account starting at $9.99/month for the ads package, or $16.99/mo for No Ads.

New episodes of The Last of Us release every Sunday.
